TikTok Expands STEM Feed for European Users

Breaking News for TikTok Users: TikTok is expanding its role in science education, by opening its STEM feed across Europe. As TikTok faced so much pressure from the U.S.& UK, the company has signed its commitment to forecast the educational content on its app.

Tiktok has faced many critics that claim that it’s a time sink. Young users of TikTok get addicted to its algorithms. After it was all about the reputation of the app, they decided to start educational content, which could be a positive step toward its lack of value for users.

However, TikTok is looking to expand it further, with local language support for STEM feed content. It’s a good initiative for them to spread knowledge and positivity about the app to users.

As per TikTok:

“Whether it inspires people to pursue unexpected STEM careers, brings together aspiring engineers to work out formulas in comments sections, or helps a new programmer learn to code, the STEM feed provides a space for co-learning, inspiration, and enrichment.”

This feed will appear alongside the  “For You” and “Following” feeds for users under 18. Users above the age of 18 can use STEM feed through the app’s  “content preferences” settings. This app includes auto-translate subtitles for user-friendliness.

According to TikTok since its launch date, 33% of users started using the STEM feed, and a third of teens go to the feed every week. The app had 24% growth in STEM-related content in the U.S. According to the last data almost 15 million STEM-related videos are published on the app globally.

“I use TikTok to show what life is like out on the sea, for what it really is,” said Mark Maguire, also known as Captain Mark on the app.

TikTok is also increasing its partnership with Common Sense Networks and Poynter Institute. They both are US-based organizations –  to cover European audiences and expand their content. TikTok is working hard to explore and expand its feed for European users.
